As Jennifer Aniston approaches 54, the Hollywood star is feeling – and looking – better than ever.
“I feel fantastic,” she proclaimed at the beginning of December, during an interview with her friend Ellen DeGeneres.
While the actress is looking forward to this significant birthday – she admitted last month, “I always love celebrating those sort of milestones” – she says her 40s have seen her get into the best shape of her life.
“Not only do you feel better in your body physically, but you’re mentally better. Because, say,
in your 20s, you didn’t know s–t. For me, in my 30s I was just trying to figure it all out. Then when you hit 40, you’re like, ‘Oh, OK. I got this,’” she told Harper’s Bazaar in 2016.
But looking this good takes hard work. Jen works out five times a week and her latest love is boxing, although she also adds in yoga, spin classes and weight workouts too.
“Last year I discovered boxing, and I love it,” she told InStyle in September. “It’s the longest workout I’ve actually stayed with consistently other than yoga. There’s something about the mental aspect of boxing – the drills, your brain has to work, you’re not just sitting on a bike. It’s amazing.”
When it comes to diet, Jennifer follows a low-carb, high-protein eating plan.
“When I wake up, I have warm lemon water and then I have a shake or avocado and eggs, which is one of my favourites,” Jennifer says. “I sprinkle a little coconut oil on that. Sometimes, I’ll have a puffed millet cereal with a banana or I’ll do oatmeal with an egg white whipped in at the end.”
And Jen’s go-to smoothie includes, “some sort of pure protein, then bananas, blueberries, frozen cherries, stevia, a vegetable mix of dynamic greens, maca powder, and a little cacao”.
Lunch, she says, is “some form of vegetables or salad with protein – pretty basic” and dinner is “probably the same”.
The actress’ favourite snacks usually include frozen grapes.
