KATY Perry has revealed her secret on why she is daring to bare all in her latest movie, in which she appears without make-up, giving fans a no-holes-barred account of her life as a megastar.
Katy, who was reportedly furious when ex-hubby Russell Brand posted a picture of her makeup-less on Twitter, has decided she should show fans her “true self”, so that they too have the confidence to not hide behind a mask.
The I Kissed a Girl star said: “I think it’s important to start breaking down the idea that to achieve your dream you always have to be perfect or flawless or live in some kind of fantasy world which is I decided to put everything into the film.”
Katy, who said that her new found confidence in flaunting her face had come from using face-care range Proactiv, has always faced problems with her skin.
“I really pride myself on being a real person”
Speaking about her teenage years, the teen idol, who is normally not seen without lashings of make-up, said: “Blemishes really made me want to hide.
“I’d wear makeup to bed or stay in if I had a bad breakout. I’ve tried so many things, and because I really pride myself on being a real person – someone who gives hugs, not handshakes – I want to tell people about my experience,” she added.
